A hotel in Chișinău pays a double-digit commission on every booking that arrives through a platform.
The painful part: some of those guests searched for the hotel's name, found it on the platform, and booked there, because the hotel's own site had nothing to press.
Direct booking is the only investment in this field that pays back in months rather than years.
What a hotel site actually needs
A booking engine on the site, not a form. Real availability, price, payment or a card guarantee. A form landing in an inbox loses the guest who wanted to finish in that minute.
A reason to book direct. Breakfast included, a transfer, late check-out, or simply a better rate. With no written advantage the guest returns to the platform where they have reviews and an account.
A page per room type. With size, what it includes, real photos, capacity. Not a mixed gallery.
The cancellation policy, written plainly. It is the second question after price.
What is nearby. Real distances to the airport, the centre, the station. A guest from out of town does not know the districts.
The facilities that matter, not all of them. Parking, wi-fi, air conditioning, 24-hour reception, pets allowed. Those decide; "pleasant atmosphere" does not.
Check-in and check-out rules. Times, early arrival, late departure, what costs extra. It comes up in every email.
The integrations that matter
Synchronisation with the platforms. A channel manager keeping availability current everywhere. Without one, overbooking is a matter of time.
Online payment or a card guarantee. It cuts no-shows, which at small hotels are the biggest invisible loss.
Automatic confirmation with everything needed. Address, how to get there, check-in time, what to bring.
Common mistakes
No booking engine. Commission gets paid even for guests who wanted to book direct.
A higher price on the site than on the platforms. It sends the guest back to the commission.
Old photos or pictures from opening day. The gap between the photo and the room ends up in the reviews.
No pages per room type. It loses exactly the search for "double room with balcony".
What we build
A prerendered site with a booking engine on real availability, synchronisation with the platforms, pages per room type, a clear cancellation policy and automatic confirmation. Romanian, Russian and English. Hotel structured data with facilities and rooms declared.
Questions
How many guests can I move from the platforms to the site?
It depends on how visible the advantage of booking direct is. The ones searching for the hotel's name are the easiest to recover — they have already chosen you, they just had nothing to press.
Does the site need a lower price than the platforms?
Not necessarily lower, but with something extra. Breakfast, a transfer or late check-out cost less than the commission and read as more valuable.
Do I need English?
Yes, if you take guests from abroad. It is the only common language for tourists who speak neither Romanian nor Russian.
What is a channel manager and do I need one?
It is the system that keeps availability synchronised between the site and the platforms. You need one from the moment you sell in both places, or you will sell the same room twice.
